This
coming season
The Chvatal/Kritzer Duo will be touring with their concert event
ARIA...In
the Blue Hour
voice, guitar and orchestra
to
accompany the release of their CD recording on MIRAMONT Records.
In
this enchanting program, the Duo highlights popular Opera arias
and great classical melodies of composers like Mozart, Bellini,
and Rossini, including
favorites such as the Carmen "Habanera", Gerschwin's "Summertime"
and Puccini's "O Mio Babbino Caro".

The
"blue hour" is a poetic term for that time of evening,
between the sunset and the coming of night. It is sometimes called
"twilight",
but the "blue hour" refers more to that short slip of time
after the light of the sun is gone,
and the sky turns a deep, dark, sapphire blue, behind the black
outline of the trees.
It is often pictured with a fat moon, bright and low on the horizon,
with the evening star appearing just beside it.
It is a time, many believe, when magical things happen,
and romance is at its peek.
ARIA...In
the Blue Hour is a musical collection of Opera melodies, arias
and lullabies, which describe, enlighten and admire this eternally
romantic twilight time.
*
Renowned
for their inviting and casual performance style, Janet and Scott
have the uncanny ability to strip away the stuffy context around
any piece of classical music and make it breathe life again.
This quality makes them especially successful in live performances.
They
offer audiences a fresh portrait of romance: the sensual and vibrant
sound of the classical guitar, coupled with a voluptuous and pure
voice, and the timeless depth and fullness of accompanying orchestra.
These arrangements for voice, guitar and orchestra transcend traditional
classical boundaries. Their sound reflects the mood of a romantic
"movie score", while still tipping a respectful hat to the original.
The music touches audiences of all ages.
ARIA...In
the Blue Hour opens a door to non-traditional audiences, offering
them the chance to hear and fall in love with some of the world's
most beautiful melodies,
outside of the opera house.
