LULLABIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD
All cultures, all races, and especially all children from every corner of the globe share at least one thing in common: the gift of music! Songs for laughter, songs for holidays, and songs for sleeping. With audio and visual aid we will take the children with us on a musical journey around the earth, peeking into the windows of homes in Norway, Russia, Africa, Brazil, China, England, France and Germany to catch a glimpse of children (just like you and I) singing and sharing music in their everyday lives. Our purpose is to open the children's eyes to the subtle differences and many similarities that they share with children from around the world, who may speak a different language and wear different clothing over different colored skin, but who are really not so unlike the children in their own classroom, even though there are oceans separating them.

LENGTH: 45 minutes
AGE: K-5
AUDIENCE: Grade School Classroom/Assembly $250

TRENDS IN CONTEMPORARY MUSIC
Few purveyors of today's classical music scene disagree that we are on the verge of a major musical shift. Just as the complicated fugues of Bach's time gave way to the serene simplicity of Mozart, the serial music of the mid-20th century is now giving way to the increasingly popular minimalist music from the likes of John Adams and Steven Reich. This lecture/demonstration will chart the respective roots of both serialism and minimalism, helping to draw some conclusions about what the future may bring.

LENGTH: 50 minutes
AGE: College
AUDIENCE: Music History, General History, Sociology, General Music $250

ALL CREATURES SING
Children, not yet bound by the self-conscious social awareness of adults, are intimately acquainted with the joys and pleasures of song. Together we will explore the range and unlimited potential of sound and the human voice: from the melodious cries of the jungle to a chorus of big city noise, music is all around us in our everyday world and everything we can see, touch and feel has a song and a story to tell us.

Our purpose is to engage the children's imagination and expand their awareness that all creatures have a life of their own. Experiencing a complex expression of life from something which is not necessarily 'human' will hopefully encourage a respect for it.

LENGTH: 45 minutes

VOICE MASTER CLASS
The college-level voice student of today is inundated with information concerning all aspects of the craft of singing: vocal technique, learning the literature, the languages, the style...many young singers find themselves frustrated at their inability to synthesize all of these elements into the energy and spontaneity needed for performance.

This master class will delve into the area of the "art" of performing; demonstrating methods of practice and exercises for improving stage presence, developing characters, and increasing a sense of ease with an audience.

Also to be covered will be the topic of career development for the post graduate: We will discuss the present situation in the European Opera Scene as well as keys to successful auditioning and increasing one's potential for a full-time career in the profession.

LENGTH: 3 HOURS
AGE: Open
AUDIENCE: Five singers, and an unlimited number of auditors, (all instruments). $300
