The Chvatal/Kritzer Duo may have billed their February 15 performance
a "Valentine Concert," but it was their charismatic musicality
that wooed and won over the hearts of our audience.
The balanced blend of Janet's crystalline soprano tones with Scott's
rich quitar complement: Irresistible. Their handsome stage presence:
Equally Magnetic.
Actually, a professional love affair of sorts - in this case, with
our council's publicity committee - began months earlier. Equipped
with an extensive marketing agenda, Janet and Scott have prepared
a thorough, ready-made press kit, including publicity contact suggestions
- should these aids be requested.
Smooth, facilitative, and so pleasant - they pampered us!
Success is never effortless, but excellence always looks like it
is: The Chvatal/Kritzer Duo.

Dear
Scott and Janet,
I am writing to once again thank you for your performances in the
Yukon. Your willingness to perform in a small place like Haines
Junction, to give press interviews, and attend a Rotary lunch help
to make our job as presenters so much easier. I would also like
to add that you have the best press kit I have ever seen. In fact,
one print article was written soley from the press kit, as there
was so much useful and interesting information included.
And, on top of all that you gave a wonderful performance. And our
audience obviously agreed when they gave you a standing ovation!
Please feel free to use my name and give my phone number to any
presenter who wishes to know more about your performance. I hope
to see you both back in the Yukon soon.
Sincerely,
Michele Emslie

Hi,
there, Douglas.
Scott
Kritzer asked me to send you an email about the show they just did
in Quesnel last Friday. I said I would, gladly.
Well,
where to start ... first of all, what a great combination. I know
less about classical guitar than I do voice, but I would say that
Janet and Scott are both immensely talented. I studied voice in
university for a while, and was very impressed with Janet's voice.
It was just gorgeous. I don't play guitar, but really enjoyed Scott's
playing, and if anything, I would have enjoyed more soloing from
him. It was one of those shows where you're sad that it's over.
Now,
on to other opinions besides mine. They received two full standing
ovations, which are unusual at our shows. The only other group that
has received a standing "O" with Quesnel Live Arts in
the past four years was Barrage, who now charge $25,000 US to perform
at Disneyland. Everyone, I believe, was very excited about the CK
Duo. One woman I know hugged me afterwards and said, "Oh, Nancy,
my birthday is this weekend, and this was the BEST birthday present!"
She seemed very moved and attends most of our shows.
The
other responses I heard and that have been passed on to me were
also very positive. I called the past chair of our organization
about other business on Sunday, and the first thing he said was,
"Congratulations on a very successful show." Something
else I can tell you is that a friend of mine whose mother is an
opera singer in Johannesburg yelled "bravo" once that
I heard and apparently one other time. My friend has been around
singers and classical music all his life, and I'm pretty sure was
sober at the show.
Janet
and Scott mentioned that they might come back with an orchestra
or small orchestral group in a while once their next CD is recorded,
and the audience responded with a lot of enthusiasm. I would be
surprised if QLA didn't book them if they do come this way with
a show like that. We would definitely have a great turnout, building
on the success of this show.
Lastly,
we booked the Duo based on a strong recommendation from the 100
Mile House concert society, and hadn't heard their CD. Could have
been a mistake, but we were intrigued by the combination and are
quite happy we booked them.
If
you have any other questions, please feel free to send me an email.
And, I am curious about which other groups you are looking for for
next year. We haven't started to book yet, but it would be great
to hook up with other societies who are bringing interesting shows
up north. We didn't go to Pacific Contact; did you?
Cheers,
Nancy
