FROM
FOOTBALL STAR TO CLASSICAL GUITARIST THE SECRET LIFE OF SCOTT KRITZER
On
insert concert date at insert concert time
the fiery fingers of critically acclaimed guitarist Scott Kritzer
will heat up the insert theater name in a live performance with
the saucy international star of Andrew Lloyd-Webber's Phantom
of the Opera soprano, Janet Chvatal.
Bernard
Holland of the New York Times hailed the young guitarist: "… he
creates and inner life in his playing". Following the Duo's recent
smash performance debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.,
this evening is sure to be a sensual delight; with hauntingly romantic
South American works, favorite melodies from Opera and musical theater,
(like Gerschwin's Summertime and Carmen's Habanera,
not to mention the visual electricity exchanged on stage between
these two passionate and attractive artists. French critics exclaimed
that an experience of their music is like "Love at First Sight".
But
what of this mysterious past of the burly man behind the strings?
His large, imposing shoulders encompass the guitar like a giant
around a fragile newborn; now imagine those same brawny arms wrapped
around an oblong sphere known as a football, hurling it with maximum
force and speed towards the elusive "goal"line. Could it be that
this accomplished and sensitive musician once sweat the heat of
a padded uniform and wrapped his aching swollen hands in protective
tape?
Scott
Kritzer has this to say about his "huddled" past: "I was recruited
by a PAC 10 College and I had a choice: play football or music.
I had been doing both since I was nine and although plying football
had taught me a lot about life, in the face of criticism from my
coaches I chose the art over the battlefield." Kritzer admits that
he still enjoys an occasional autumn game with his aging high school
teammates.
In
any case we can be sure, while he dreams of blocking for the quarterback
sneak, this "world-class guitarist" … with the body of a linebacker
and the boy scout smile (the Oregonian) will be tackling his audience
with the intimate gestures of a musical master on insert concert
date.
