PHANTOM
OF THE OPERA COMES TO insert city!
On
insert concert date and time the "walls will be trembling"
when Janet Chvatal, international stage an television personality,
and star of Andrew Lloyd-Webber's The Phantom of the Opera,
takes to the insert theater name for an evening of
intimate seduction with critically acclaimed classical guitarist,
Scott Kritzer.
Singing
the most well-known and beloved melodies from opera and musical
theater, the Duo's electric passion on stage is sure to ignite even
the most critical musical enthusiast. France's Le Progres
hailed the young soprano as " Astounding,…. An authentic artist
of captivating class", and since their coveted Kennedy Center Debut,
the Duo's rise to stardom has become eminent.
After
two years singing "Christine" in the Vienna production of the Phantom,
performing to over 300,000 Europeans in the 1500 seat opera house
in the heart of Europe's musical culture, Ms. Chvatal was ready
for a change. She speaks of her discovery of the Duo: "We were very
fortunate to have been brought together…..by chance…. for a single
concert in the Fall of 1994. That stormy night, in a little wooden
church on the Washington coast sealed our fate." With this unique
pairing of voice and guitar, the Chvatal/Kritzer Duo have created
a new venue for some of the most sensual, romantic music ever written,
best performed in an intimate space. Ms. Chvatal says: "I like to
see the eyes and faces of the audience, and in these intimate setting
our concerts are more like casual evenings in the living room rather
than the (too often) stuffy, overdressed pomp of the opera house
or large concert hall."
….and
a less overdressed public you will not see, for their concerts are
attracting both young and old alike with their universal appeal.
In the hands of the Phantom's beloved Christine and her six-string
serenading partner, classical is at long last, cool.
