in love with the singer. And that's exactly what happened... With
her pure tone and delicate vocal shading, soprano Janet Chvatal
wooed a willing audience... by the end of two hours, this enchanting
singer had transfixed her listeners in a way that few classical
singers are able."
- David Stabler, The Oregonian

continues to endear herself to the press as well as to the public,
for her command of a remarkable combination of talents:
flawless technique:

this young Soprano a place as one of classical music's most sought-after
and up-and-coming artists.
"...For
two days now the walls of the theater are trembling, hearing the
American Soprano Janet Chvatal...the encounter was a genuine 'love
at first sight'...she seduced the audience...how could one not
be enchanted by Janet Chvatal? Such professional scenic presence,
femininity, and enormous craft, this is a born artist." Dauphiné
Libéré, France.
Janet began studying the piano at the age of five and started
voice lessons at the tender age of fifteen. At twenty-one, she
graduated summa cum laude from Boston University and traveled
on full Scholarship to Europe for graduate study in opera. After
winning two international voice competitions, she began a year
long apprenticeship with coloratura soprano, Mady Mesplé.
Immediately
following her studies, she was chosen to star as Christine
in Andrew Lloyd-Webber's The Phantom of the Opera in
Vienna, Austria and began making guest appearances in Opera
and in concert throughout Europe. Her debut in Vienna's Konzerthaus
with the Wiener Operntheater as Carolina in The Secret
Marriage was followed by guest appearances with the Helsingborg
Symphony Orchestra singing Mozart and Rossini, and as a soloist
in an Operetta Gala Performance in Prague, alongside
other artists from the Vienna State Opera. She also sang the
world premiere of a chamber work Miroirs, written especially
for her by Swedish composer Tommie Haglund, for the Musik
I Maj International Music Festival. She has since performed
solo recitals in England, Germany, France, Austria, and on both
the East and West coasts of the United States.
This phenomenal young coloratura recently made her German Television
debut in a series of live telecasts of "Famous scenes from Opera"
for Germany's largest television Network, ARD. The series called
"Opera Light", airs to millions of Europeans
over the next several seasons and is available on compact disc
courtesy of the SONY label.
